Director of Music

The Music Director is responsible for all music and music related aspects of the church.

Mark A, Bunce has been the Music Director at Saint Paul’s since the spring of 1999. At Saint Paul’s, he directs the Choir and plays organ and piano during the weekly services. On occasion, we host other performers for concerts for the community. Mark also chairs the worship committee for the church.

Mark holds a Bachelor of Music degree in Music Education and Performance from the Crane School of Music at SUNY Potsdam and a Masters of Music Degree from Michigan State University. He is also the Director of Music for the Ilion Central School District, where he directs the Senior and Junior High Choirs, Chamber Choir, Chamber Singers and Annual Musical Production. He also teaches Theatre, Music Theory, Music Appreciation, Piano Keyboard and Applied voice lessons at Ilion.

Outside of church and school, Mark is involved as the Assistant Artistic Director of the Mohawk Valley Choral Society and Music Directs productions for the Chatham Theatre Company and Players of Utica. Mark has guest conducted and accompanied many All-County and Area All-State Music Festivals. He also is a certified NYSSMA judge and edits the Madrigal section of the NYSSMA manual. He has been named many times in Who’s Who for American Teachers, received the KEYS Music Teacher of the Year Award and been honored by the GENESIS group for outstanding contributions to Education.
